After we presenting at Anderson Junior College Careers Fair earlier this year, we arranged for the students to visit East Coast Podiatry on a learning journey to find out more about podiatry as a course of study and career.
The podiatrists demonstrated consultation techniques, allowing the students to visualise the differences between each individual’s feet as well as explaining how the different factors could affect areas beyond the feet.
Rotating between different stations, the students were exposed to a practical demonstration of some of the diagnostic and treatment techniques used in our clinic.
Afnan Al-Maskari, a podiatrist with East Coast Podiatry, had this to say about the students. “They were very curious about podiatry and the tools we used for diagnosis and consultation. This made it more enjoyable for us and the students. I enjoyed having them here.”
Participating in an open Q & A session after their exposure to podiatry in practice, the students mingled with our staff, asking questions about their experiences during university, in practice and living in Singapore.
We are very pleased to say to almost all of the students expressed an interest in finding out more about studying and practicing podiatry. As a practice, we are always keen to work with schools as we believe that podiatry can only grow in Singapore if more students join the field.
