Dr. Michael Lai was recently invited to speak to members of the Heart Wellness Centre at the Singapore Heart Foundation, a non-profit social service agency that focuses on heart health, prevent and reduce disability and death due to cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this was held via Zoom and allowed participants to attend the function from the comfort of their homes.
Sharing about common issues such as arteriosclerosis and peripheral heart disease, Dr. Lai identified common symptoms associated with these conditions and the possible treatment options and alternatives potential sufferers could utilise to reduce their risks of developing such issues.
He also took the opportunity to address some of the concerns and questions regarding their lower limb health. While lower limb health is still poorly understood by the general population of Singapore, there is a growing interest in such issues due to our increased lifespans, increased rate of diabetes and associated health complications, and a greater understanding of the impact mobility has on our quality of life. As such, East Coast Podiatry is always keen on assisting the general public to achieve a greater understanding of lower limb health.
If you or your organisation is interested in helping us raise awareness of the importance of lower limb health, please do not hesitate to contact us at services@ecpc.sg.
