Preventing Foot Amputations caused by Diabetic Wounds

ECP   Tuesday, 15 May 2018

We are delighted to have been invited by AIA’s Advisor Development Club to speak at the 2018 GI Day. Speaking to a crowd of over three hundred advisors, Sani Kamis, senior podiatrist at East Coast Podiatry, spoke about his work with the Singapore Diabetic Foot Centre and how advanced podiatric methods can be utilised to treat patients with diabetic wounds and ulcers. With around one in nine Singaporeans diagnosed with diabetes, Sani’s message resonated strongly with the advisors as almost all of them had family members who had been diagnosed with diabetes.

Sani discussing commonly held beliefs about diabetes.

Diabetic amputations are incredibly risky, with about 20% of diabetic patients with lower extremity amputations dying within a year of their amputation. By sharing about his work in preventing diabetic amputations and healing diabetic wounds, Sani aims to improve the ability of AIA’s financial consultants to advise their clients on their proper healthcare needs.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to AIA’s Advisor Development Group for organising this event and hosting Sani at their annual General Insurance workshop.
