Alexandra Foo is a highly qualified podiatrist with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Science in Human Anatomy and Pathology. Her academic expertise, combined with her passion for sports, shapes her holistic approach to podiatry.

With a comprehensive understanding of the physical demands placed on athletes in sports such as field hockey, ultimate frisbee, and calisthenics, Alexandra is adept at addressing the specific challenges faced by active individuals. This expertise allows her to offer tailored care plans designed to enhance performance and assist patients in managing the demands of their athletic activities.

She began her career at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, working in the multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Unit, where she managed complex diabetic foot conditions. Her interest in biomechanics and sports medicine led to her role as the Lead of the Sports Podiatry Service within the hospital’s Sports Medicine Department. In this role, she collaborated with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, physiotherapists, and acupuncturists, to optimise patient mobility and address a variety of sports-related issues.

During her tenure at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, she contributed to the education of undergraduate medical students, doctors, nurses, and other allied health professionals in the management of diabetic foot conditions, as well as podiatric interventions for sports-related injuries and general foot and ankle conditions. Additionally, she was invited to present at a biomechanics and orthotic management mini-conference organised by the American College of Podiatric Medicine, where she shared insights on her role within the multidisciplinary sports medicine team at the hospital.

Focused on movement mechanics and pain management, Alexandra utilises evidence-based practices to provide high-quality care to patients of all ages. She is committed to delivering personalised care plans that align with each patient’s unique goals, lifestyle, and activity demands.

Alexandra Foo specialises in paediatric foot care, addressing a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions in children, with a particular focus on sports injury management and performance. She manages common issues such as flat feet, in-toeing, and growing pains, as well as more complex conditions like toe walking and sports-related injuries. Alexandra emphasises early intervention to support healthy development, tailoring care plans to each child’s specific needs. She provides expert guidance on footwear, posture, and injury prevention, helping to enhance mobility, prevent long-term issues, and optimise performance as children grow and stay active.

Sports Injuries

Alexandra Foo plays a pivotal role in managing sports injuries and enhancing athletic performance. With her expertise in biomechanics, she specialises in diagnosing and addressing common lower limb injuries such as overuse injuries, tendinitis, stress fractures, and plantar fasciitis. Alexandra uses a combination of care methods, including custom orthotics, manual therapy, and rehabilitation exercises, to assist athletes in managing their injuries while optimising movement patterns. Her focus extends to performance enhancement, ensuring athletes have the right support, footwear, and injury prevention strategies to improve mobility and boost overall performance.
