Stephanie is an Australian podiatrist who has recently relocated to Singapore with her young family. She graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 2011 and has experience in both private practice and aged care podiatry.
She quickly developed a particular interest in lower limb biomechanics and injuries during her Podiatry degree in Brisbane. In addition to treating common podiatric conditions such as corn and callus, she was fortunate to refine her skills in orthotic prescription and injury rehabilitation throughout her time in private practice. Working in Brisbane and most recently Sydney, Stephanie has treated patients across a range of ages, demographics and conditions. In 2014, she was drawn to the aged care sector and worked with Australia’s largest aged care podiatry provider. Stephanie found this to be incredibly rewarding work and enjoyed making her elderly patients more comfortable.
“Being a mother of a young child, I have developed a personal and professional interest in paediatric podiatry. Children at a young age have difficulty expressing themselves accurately when it comes to describing pain and discomfort. This can sometimes be misinterpreted by the parent as laziness or acting out so it’s very important to be observant and seek professional advice when uncertain. Moreover, many musculoskeletal conditions are more amenable to treatment during childhood as the child’s skeletal structure is more pliant than that of an adult which has matured.”Biomechanics
“I find the biomechanics of the human body fascinating as the relationship between different structures of the body is complex and sometimes surprising. Because of that, a deep understanding and keen interest in those relationships is crucial to treating patients for the lower limb conditions. This challenges me to continuously expand my understanding of the human body to ensure that I provide my patients with the highest possible standards of care.”Injury rehabilitation
“Although much of our focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions, rehabilitation is an important component of ensuring full recovery. By ensuring that patients have a clear understanding of the treatment plan and emphasizing patient compliance, I work closely with my patients to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes for them.”
Her passion and drive to help people achieve their health and lifestyle goals is what motivated Stephanie to join East Coast Podiatry in Singapore. Growing up in Australia, she has always enjoyed warm weather but is still adjusting to Singapore’s humidity.
