Mr. Michael Widjajana, an Australian-Indonesian Podiatrist practicing in Singapore, embarked on his career journey in the medical field at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) before transitioning to private practice. He holds a Master of Podiatric Medicine degree from The University of Western Australia and is a licensed member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), the Australian Podiatry Association (APODA), and the Association of Podiatric Medicine (APM) in Singapore.

With over five years of dedicated experience in podiatry, Michael specialises in managing a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions across all age groups. His expertise includes paediatric concerns, musculoskeletal conditions, and biomechanical issues, such as ankle sprains, knee pain, and forefoot pain (metatarsalgia). He also manages skin and nail conditions, including ingrown toenail and plantar wart removal, and is highly experienced in the fitting and prescription of custom orthotics and braces to help alleviate discomfort, improve mobility, and support foot function.

Michael employs innovative approaches like Shockwave therapy to stimulate healing in bone, joint, and tendon-related issues. He is passionate about providing the best care to his patients and consults individuals from around the world who visit Singapore specifically for his expertise at East Coast Podiatry. His multicultural practice, influenced by his Indonesian background and language fluency, attracts many Indonesian patients seeking lower limb and biomechanical care.

Recognising the importance of early intervention, especially in paediatric cases, Michael emphasises proactive approaches in his practice. In addition to his clinical work, he actively contributes to online content creation to raise awareness about podiatry. Furthermore, he dedicates his Sundays to volunteering, offering basic podiatric care to elderly communities, showcasing his commitment to giving back to society.

Paediatric Walking Disorders

Children’s feet grow rapidly, so paying attention to their development is important. Common conditions like in-toeing and flat feet can affect balance and movement, sometimes leading to frequent trips and falls. While in-toeing is often mistaken for clumsiness, it may require correction to prevent walking difficulties. Flat feet, though common, can also lead to complications if left unaddressed. A gradual approach to managing these concerns supports proper foot development, posture, and stability, helping children walk more comfortably as they grow.

Sports & Musculoskeletal Injuries

With more Singaporeans embracing an active lifestyle, sports-related injuries have become increasingly common. Whether in netball, badminton, long-distance running, or dance, many athletes delay seeking professional care, assuming that rest and pain relief alone will resolve the issue. At East Coast Podiatry, we focus on early intervention and non-invasive approaches to support recovery, helping athletes regain mobility and return to their activities with minimal disruption.

Diabetic Foot Management

Diabetic foot care is one of the key focuses of Michael Widjajana’s practice. He provides specialised care for complex diabetic foot wounds, utilising advanced techniques such as Total Contact Casting to help manage wounds. By emphasising prevention and early detection, he works closely with patients to help manage risks and reduce complications associated with diabetes.

Heel & Forefoot Pain

Foot pain is never normal, yet many people ignore it or try to “walk it off” until it worsens. Conditions such as heel pain, arch pain, and forefoot discomfort may persist without proper care. Michael Widjajana helps patients take early action against these conditions, providing personalised care strategies that support mobility and daily activities.
